In 2007 the Krasnoyarsk Organ hall celebrated its 25th anniversary. The laureate of international contests Andrey Bardin played compositions of the famous organist Dietrich Buxtehude of anniversary.
Originally the Organ hall was a Roman-Catholic church built in 1911. It was used by polish Catholics before the revolution.
25 years ago the gothic building on Dekabristov street was restored and totally given to the wind concert organ made by the Czech company Rieger-Kloss.
Garry Grodberg, the famous organist of Russia took part in the first concert in the Organ hall. Since then Krasnoyarsk people got a chance to enjoy a part of European culture and recalled their own history. The organ appeared in ancient Russia in X century due to close cultural and political relations with Byzantium. It can also be seen on the frescoes of Sofiysky cathedral in Kiev, on Moscow and Novgorod miniatures of XVI century.
During the past 25 years world famous musicians made their performances here: Garry Grodberg, Ludger Lomann, Galina Kozlova, Evgenia Lisitsina, Vladimir Homyakov and many others. The Krasnoyarsk Organ hall is one of the cultural centers of the whole Siberian region.
Since 1991 Krasnoyarsk Catholics make their services in the Organ hall. An unusual mass is held there on Christmas Eve. A lot of people come to the church from all over the region. Traditionally the youth of the Catholic community make a Christmas play.
