"Tsar Fish"

"Tsar fish" is a watching place situated on Sliznevsky hill near Ovsyanka village - a native village of a famous Russian writer Victor Astafyev. The watching place was founded in 1970ies.

In 2004 a large metal sturgeon was installed here to commemorate the writer. The large fish swims over a powerful river and surrounding hills. This monument is dedicated to one of Astafyev's books about the man and the nature, about their unity and struggle. Astafyev always devoted much time to struggling for the nature.

Krasnoyarsk authorities also plan to build a guard tower there according to the drafts of XVII century. There will be a café and a souvenir shop organized near the guard tower.

"Tsar fish" watching place near Sliznevo village is very popular among Krasnoyarsk citizens and guests of the city. It is one of the city's symbols, a sacred place for newlyweds. There is a tradition to tie colorful ribbons to trees and bushes as a symbol of a happy marriage.
