Krasnoyarsk hosts an open tournament of swimming in cold water

An open city tournament of swimming in cold water takes place on 28-29 of August in Krasnoyarsk on the reach of the Yenisei River between Krasnoyarsk and Divnogorsk.

The tournament is going to be attended by more than 70 sportsmen from all over Russia. The Krasnoyarsk team is expected to include a 70 year old participant, Vladimir Sinatulin, who is presently finishing 1500 km marathon between Khabarovsk and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on the Amur River, and a bronze medalist of the world championship of swimming in cold water, Natalya Usacheva.

The sportsmen have to meet a marathon of 35 km long. The stage for the marathon will be set by ‘short water’ competitions that take place on August 28 at 10am on the Abakan Anabranch.

All the history of the water marathon has witnessed only 5 people who managed to surmount it, - KrasSport reports. The best men's time is Alexander Brylin’s – 3h 59m, the women's one is that of Antonina Arakcheeva – 4h 14m.

The organizers of the tournament are the Club of lovers of frost hardening and water swimming ‘Cryophil’, the Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of Krasnoyarsk Region, the Krasnoyarsk Head Department of Physical Education and Sport.
