Route in brief:

Duration: 8 days/ 7 nights

Tuva is a very mysterious place. It's a very beautiful place where you don't know what will happen in a moment. And in a moment - there is another world- when the every second you are ready to cry because of overfilling emotions, when there is something new all the time: pristine nature, fresh air which breaks through the loss of consciousness, fantastic colours, another people with their centuries- old culture, music, shaman's rites. Tuva is not two days or weeks or months, it is another thing, it can't be somehow connected with Time. Tuva is another category.

Day 1

As soon as the tourists' arrive to Kyzyl they'll be met, transferred and accommodated. After that - rest, walking tour around the town. Visit to the geographical centre of Asia. The geographical Centre of Asia is the monument, which is symbolically situated close to the place of the rivers confluence - Biy-Khem (Big Yenisey) and Ka-Khem (Small Yenisey). From this point the famous Great Yenisey begins and crosses Siberia from the South to the North. The monument was erected in 1964 and symbolizes the Earth with specially marked Kyzyl and Tuva on it.

In the Buddhist monastery you will be able to hear a sermon of a real lama and then visit the Shaman clinic. In the Shaman Clinic the real shamans, old and young ones, tell the guests about their traditions, rites and their capabilities. Everybody who wishes to have a look to the future, to experience the purification ritual or to learn about one's state of health can make an appointment with any of the shamans.

It is possible to organize khoomei concert**.  Throat singing - "hoomei" - is a fantastic capability of Tuvan people and some other Siberian peoples to emit simultaneously two or three sounds of different tone and to sustain it the same sound for 25-30 seconds without taking a breath. If you close your eyes it is hard to believe that the sounds are emitted by a person, not a musical instrument.

Day 2

After breakfast the group goes to Dus-Khol lake (Svatikovo). There you'll have a rest, to bathe and sunbathe. During this trip the tourists will also visit Khadyn lake. Khadyn lake is situated in 3 km. to the East from Dus-Khol lake, 10 meters deep. 

Then our itinerary comes to the mineral spring Argolic*, where there will be a tent camp set. The mineral spring Argolic - in tuvan it means "saint water, curative spring"; there are more than 50 "arjaans" known in Tuva, tuvan people sing songs about them, keep rites connected with them, worship these springs.

Day 3

The next lake the group is going to visit is Chaghytay lake. Chaghytay is the deepest and the sweetest lake of the Tuvan hollow. It is located at the foot of the northern mountainside of the ridge Tannu-Ola, 1003 meters above the sea level, 17 meters deep. After the day spent at the open air with bathing everybody will feel great. Coming back to Kyzyl. The next day the tourists are going to visit national celebration of Naadym - traditional Tuvan holiday.  Arrival in the hotel, accommodation. Dinner**.

Day 4

Breakfast. The celebration begins in the morning with the parade of the participants of Naadym. Naadym is a traditional national tuvan celebration of cattlemen, which is held annually in August. The program of Nadym includes "huresh" - national tuvan fighting, horse racing, and archery.The participants are the best cattlemen from different parts of Tuva. They wear national costumes and it makes the parade very colourful and attractive.

Lunch**. After lunch - the competition for the best yurt*. For this competition participants bring their yurts with them to the festival. When all the yurts are gathered together they form a yurts-town. As a matter of fact, yurts from different parts of Tuva are different. The winners will be announced on the sixth day.

In the evening there will be the concert in the musical-drama theatre with the performance of dance and chorus ensembles**. Dinner by yourself**.

Day 5

Breakfast. This day is mostly devoted to horse racing. Horse racing is held for different distances - from the shortest to the longest. Horsemen show first-rate racing, various types of riding. Even 12-15 year-old children take part in such competitions. The cattlemen bring their best horses. Lunch.

The trade fair is also held on this day. There you can by any national souvenir - stone and wooden figures, national dress (caftans and caps), knives, pipes, whips, national wooden dolls, ceramics, national instruments, dish and boots.

Visiting Republican Local Lore Museum of Tuva. The ancient building of Republican Local Lore Museum of Tuva is a memorial of architecture itself. There are interesting archaeological finds from different epochs. The departments of nature, religion and history work.

During the whole celebration, you can taste traditional tuvan cuisine. The base of Tuvan cuisine contains mostly products of cattle breeding. The most respected products are milk and mutton. During the celebration the tourists will have an opportunity to taste milk vodka - araka.

Day 6

Today the tourists are to watch the national fighting "huresh". Huresh is as popular among tuvan people as throat singing "hoomey". The rules of huresh are very simple: those who touch the floor with any part of his body except feet lose the fight. Fighting of famous champions can attract huge crowds of people. There are a lot of legends about best fighters. Lunch**. After it there will be a festive firework at the square. And in the evening - the most sacramental and unusual part of the program - ritual kamlaniye of the tuvan shamans. Naadym kamlanye - as a matter of fact, shamans don't lead their rites together, usually they do it alone, but Naadym is an exception. All the shamans try to invite all the spirits for them to protect the tuvan people, help them during the next year.

Day 7

Breakfast, a day for rest. You can go rafting along the Biy-Khem river (2 hours of water trip). Or you can walk by yourself around Kyzyl. Those who wish will be offered to use banya**. Then there is a dinner with national cuisine in Biy-Khem yurt complex.

In the evening you'll see a bewitching show - kamlanye of shamans right near you - on the territory of yurt complex.

Day 8

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Departure to Krasnoyarsk.
