"Commersant" 02.09.2002 "Tuva is considered to be the native land of the Scythians"

14.05.2009

The second season running the archeologist from Saint Petersburg made the excavations in this place under the aegis of the Hermitage. This year the excavations were held in the same burial mound, where was found a grave covered up with stones at depth of 4,5 meters, it is a not ransacked by robbers burial place of a leader of an ancient tribe and his wife. This was adiscovery of a global scale - during all the history of studying the Scythian's monuments in Asia and Europe, there were found no any unimpaired tsar's mounds.
The scientists determined that the burial was made in the Scythian epoch in the 7th century BC. According to the words of Chugunov, the Scythians generated near the Black sea in the middle of the 7th century BC. The burial mound of the Tsar valley is dated of about that time. The professor assumes that the Scythians spread through the territory of Eurasia from the Altay-Sayan region, in particular from Tuva. Owing to excavations the scientists got the full picture of burial rite of the Scythian epoch for the first time.
During two archeological seasons in Tuvinian burial places, there were found lot of highly artistic products of gold and copper, iron weapon (that is very unusual for this epoch), carpets, military armors, clothes, dish and other utensils - in all more than five thousands invaluable things. All of them are delivered to the Hermitage for restoration, then they will be returned to Tuva to the regional Museum.
