Kazachinsky rapid

Kazachinsky rapid is situated 223 km far from Krasnoyarsk city. There the rocks of Yenisei mountain ridge cross the valley of Yenisei thus forming an unpredictable and picturesque Kazachinsky rapid. Rocks, stone ridges and placers of a copper mountain ridge create magnificent views of amazing beauty which can inspire you for creative and navy feats. The length of the rapid is 7 kilometers.

The rapid is formed near Kamenniy cape, then it crosses the Upper Porozhinsky rift, the Upper and the Lower discharges and the Lower Porozhinsky rift. There is a unique island named "Islands" beyond the Lower discharge. Kazachinsky rapid territory has two tributaries: Shilka river and Karaulnaya river. It is difficult to describe the character of Kazachinsky rapid, but the famous Krasnoyarsk writer Victor Astafyev managed to do it in his book "Tsar fish".

The powerful waves reach the height of 2 meters. The river-bed narrows from 650 to 350 meters. The average depth for water vessels is 3-4 meters.

There is a 100th plate lying under water as a remembrance of the steamship's "Modest" wreck. But in 1882 the rapid was conquered by the man. Nowadays the pilotage there is carried out by a special chain-tug.

What more, there are numerous archaeological monuments of mesolite, late Stone age and Bronze age situated near Kazachinsky rapid.
