Excursion description

The history of Shushenskoye village begins from the time when a Cossack's stockaded town was founded in the 18th century. At that time there were 35 houses and a good church in Shushenskoye. In the 19th century the village turned into a centre of the district and a place for exile of many famous people including the Decembrists. Due to its convenient location, mild climate and a constant inflow of educated people, Shushenskoye soon became the leading centre. By the end of the 19th century it became a village of well-to-do peasants and merchants. Craftsmen, carpenters, potters and agrarian workshops worked in the village.

You will visit a unique State Ethnographical Museum reserve Shushenskoye, where you will learn about the history of the village, its culture and people’s way of life. A lot of people go here attracted by ancient Siberian traditions, which are fully preserved in this place. You will visit a shop of a merchant, reach people’s houses, a prison and a bar. It is also possible to organize a visit to a real tavern, you can see handicrafts and a Cossack folk show. Here you will be served a cup of tea and traditional dishes in real Siberian izba.

A visit to a national park Shushenskiy pine forest, where you will see hut near Perovo lake. It is also possible to organize a tea-drinking.

You will overnight in the guesthouses of the museum Shushenskoye, it still has the customs and traditions of the Siberian village of the late 19th century, with its streets and houses, it will help you to feel the atmosphere of country life. Guesthouses were reconstituted with preservation of cultural styles of Angara river area and south of Krasnoyarsk Territory. The realities of peasant life are combined with modern comfort living. Stopping for a rest in the new village, becoming masters of estates, enjoying traditional peasant cuisine, learning the basics of craft, taking part in the games and entertainments, ceremonies and celebrations, guests can feel the real Siberian farmers. Before dinner a visit to Russian banya is highly recommended!
