A one-storeyed wooden weather-boarded mansion on a rubble stone footing, with walls of khaki colour and high front semi-arched windows belonged to Krasnoyarsk eparchy a few years ago. More than 30 years in the 19^th century there lived Vasily Dmitriyevich Kasyanov, an archpriest of Krasnoyarsk cathedral, and about 3 years – Petr Ananyevich Krasikov, a grandson of a famous priest, the leader of first Marxist clubs in Krasnoyarsk.

During the soviet 1970 the historically important house became the house-museum of Krasikov P.A., and nowadays the exposition of the museum shows rich religious traditions of the region, and treasures which remained intact.

Within the frame of ‘In the beginning was the Word’ exhibition there is a chance to see the most ancient of the preserved examples of Yenisei writing and one of the most ancient icons of Siberia – the icon of St Nickolas of the end of the XVII century.

A lot of exhibits are true documents of archpriest Kasyanov V.D., ‘Siberian manuscript’ since 1869. In the museum there is a copy of the manuscript, written by Makariy Suslov, an archimandrite of Yenisei monastery of the Saviour. Makariy made this copy after Yudin’s inquiry, patron of the arts and bookseller, who had the original. Kasyanov, the famous archpriest, had an extremely illegible writing and the manuscript was hardly readable, but Suslov not only copied it, but translated as well.

Among the exhibits there are true diaries of Nickodim, the first bishop of Yenisei and Krasnoyarsk eparchy. He was a religious writer who was the head of several religious seminaries. In Krasnoyarsk there remained a unique library, created by him, but nowadays there are few books left.

Krasikov Petr Ananyevich became an outstanding politician. In the reconstructed interior of his room there are photographs of the Krasikovs, books, true things which belonged to him and which tell about his role in creating Russian Social Democratic Labour Party.

The old building is very interesting from an architectural point of view. A complicated planning because of outhouses, a house church, huge windows, shutters and even a torch – everything here is done in the style of the XIX century.
