How it was?

April 12, 1970. The eve of the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin. In the village Shushenskoe a grandiose celebration - the opening of the Memorial Museum-Reserve “Siberian exile of Vladimir Lenin". In the central square, decorated with flags, banners, flowers, a solemn meeting was held. There were guests from many cities and regions of the country and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, workers of the All-Union Radio, Central Television, and newspaper correspondents. At the rally, words of respect and gratitude to Lenin, his covenants and ideas were heard. Everyone wished the museum to vividly and passionately promote the Leninist heritage.

“The whole central square was crowded with people. Getting to work that day was not easy. Museum staff, along with everyone, were at the rally, but whe the ribbon was cut, the guides were in the museum and were waiting for guests. There was no question of a free observation of the new exposition. The flow of people was divided into groups. The groups were huge, 120 people each. This day was a record number of visitors. Of course we were tired. But the feeling was incredible! This day was a real holiday! ” - recalls one of the veterans of the museum-reserve.

On April 12, 1970, the museum-reserve received about 2,000 visitors.
