The first group of 15o Chinese tourists has already arrived to the island. The island is divided between Russia and China due to the procedure of boundary demarcation. According to the Complementary Agreement between the People’s Republic of China and Russian Federation the Tarabarov Island was transferred to China and got the name of Yinlong Island. The western part of the Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island is now in the PRC’s jurisdiction and the eastern part is in Russia’s jurisdiction.
Chinese and Russian businessmen are going to develop tourism at the Bolshoy Ussiriysky Island. It is located at the juncture of 2 rivers – Amur River and Ussuri River. It is expected to become a resort focused on payable tourists from Russia, China, South Korea and Japan. Hotels, restaurants and big mall are planned to be built there.
Chinese businessmen have already invested $1,47bln in the Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island’s development. Apart from touristic facilities, Chnese businessmen are going to start producing Russian-buyer-oriented goods at this island. According to the joint program of the Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island reclaiming process, Chinese and Russian effecters will construct bridges, roads, airport and river port on a parity basis.
