Such increase was reached with the help of Chinese tourists: 196 thousand tourists came to Russia in 2011 which is 53% more than last year. Moreover there is a 43% increase in the number of Turkish tourists. At the same time, western countries which are the main “donors” of Russian tourism, lost ground to Asian countries.

A number of British tourists decreased by 24%, Finland and Germany remained at the same level (110 thousand and 307 thousand people respectively). Tourists flow from USA increased only by 4%, from Italy and France – by 1%. The only exception here is Spain, tourists flow increased by 16%.

Experts say, such a low increase is accounted for financial crisis in Europe. Europe now is in crisis conditions and the first thing people do to save money – give up travelling.
