The project "Cultural Alliance of Perm and Peter. New Permian period in St. Petersburg" in the great hall of St. Petersburg Philharmonic on Nov. 20 will be able to get acquainted with one of the brightest musical projects - etnomythological suite of Vladimir Martynov "Children of the otter". Chamber Orchestra "Opus Posth" running Tatiana Grindenko, Perm Academic Choir "Mlada", the world-famous Tuvan group "Hun-Huur-Tu" and Vladimir Martynov (piano) take part in the performance.
Suite "Children of the Otter" was created by Vladimir Martynov, based on two "superstories" by Velimir Khlebnikov: "Children of the otter" and "Zangezi".
The combination of archaic throat singing and ancient techniques of Tuvan instrumental music with the author's writing Martynov and modern methods of working with musical material gave this unique sound that a suite "Children of the otters" has.
Otter is the archaic animal totem. According to the beliefs Orochi, a man owed his release from the animal kingdom to Otter's petition before the supreme deity. Appealing to the character of Otter as a foremother of mankind, to the water, female deity, responsible for creativity and the formation of the world, united philosophies of Khlebnikov and Martynov.
Quartet Hun-Huur-Tu, which owns the secrets of throat singing and playing techniques of traditional Tuvan musical instruments, whose music is as powerful as the images of mythological tales about the Otter, will be one of the key project participants.
