In 2018 tourist police will be created in St. Petersburg, following the example of Moscow, as the Chairman of the City Committee for Tourism Development Andrei Mushkarev reported. 

“In November we adopted a state program for tourism development from 2018 to 2023, and tourist police occupies a separate line there. Now we are actively interacting with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and our regional administration, and I am sure that this year we will create tourist police in one way or another” - Mushkarev noted. “Most likely, the police will be created in the same way as the police that has existed in Moscow since 2014” - he added. Mushkarev added that during the days of football matches of the World Cup the security measures will be similar to those taken during the Cup of Confederations.
