The unique non-freezing lakes of Sovetsky District of the Altai Territory where whooper swans come each winter are attracting more and more interest of tourists.

In order to make the proximity of people and birds environmentally safe and comfortable, the works on the improvement of the territory of the Swan’s reserve are conducted every year. In 2014 a new viewing platform was opened, and in this season they are building a new footbridge for feeding and watching of birds.

In 2015 it is also planned to equip a viewing platform with environmentally friendly energy sources which are necessary for the organization of its lighting and heating. The total area of the new footbridge will be increased, and this will allow a greater number of tourists to comfortably watch the swimming birds; 20 tons of grain feed has already been prepared for their arrival. This was possible thanks to the help which is annually rendered by the reserve of “Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk” LLC. The whooper swans fly to the lake with the onset of cold weather in November.
