The consulate of Korea republic opened in Irkutsk. Earlier it was possible to register the visa to the Southern Korea in Moscow, Saint- Petersburg, Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sahalinsk.

The General consulate in Irkutsk will strengthen partnership between the two countries in the sphere of energy and mineral resources development.

The General consulate is situated in the central part of the city, in the building of "Irkutsk" hotel. The opening ceremony was visited by the official representatives of the countries including the vice governor of Irkutsk oblast Yuriy Gurtovoy, the mayor of the city Vladimir Yakubovsky, the ambassador of Korea in Russia Li Gu Hyon and the representatives of the local Koreans - the citizens of Russia.
