December, 15 2009 the leader of company “Metropol” Mikhail Slipenchuk presented the results of the exploration in Baikal with the help of deep water apparatus “Mir”.

During 2 years of expedition “Mir-1” and “Mir-2” were accomplished 122 plunges. 100 key world specialists took part in learning of the ecosystem of the lake. Such famous people as prime-minister of Russia Vladimir Putin, president of the Buryat Republic Vyacheslav Nagovitsin, the head of the Nature Oversight Department Vladimir Kirillov, writer Valentin Rasputin, musician Andrey Makarevich, director of the State National Reserve “Barguzinsky” Gennady Yankus and others were invited to take part in plunges.

This year in August the second season of expedition has been finished. As a result of the two-year –old expedition many discoveries were made, in particular, four new kinds of krills were found. Areas of gas hydrate were isolated.
