On September 2-5 2009 there will be VIII International biennale organized in Krasnoyarsk. The topic of the museum art project is "Expanse".

The participants of exposition and communication program which will occupy not only the building of the Krasnoyarsk museum center but also the territory of the city, have to understand what expanse means, to realize its depth and height by measuring it with contemporary art and by making a three-dimensional model of Siberia on the map of the world.

The topic and format of the project aim to develop creativity of Krasnoyarsk and the region, to promote its art potential in the international sphere.

There are 2 biennale programs which are already working: "The vocabulary of expanse" for the museums and collectors, and "The summer school of biennale" for the students of art faculties of Krasnoyarsk.

The project's cost is almost 3 million rubles. It will be supported by the Krasnoyarsk region ministry of culture. The general partner of the project is The fund of cultural initiatives of Mikhail Prohorov.
