Travelling from Helsinki to Moscow you can read books in Finnish or Russian

06.02.2017 at the Leningrad railway station in Moscow the Russian Railways and the Embassy of Finland presented a new joint cultural and educational project "Travel with a book".

From February, 5 to April, 5, 2017 in the train number 31/32 Leo Tolstoy connecting Moscow and Helsinki passengers can use a library, which includes 15 books by contemporary Finnish and Russian authors translated into both languages. In every book there is a bookmark with the comments of the official representatives and translators of both countries.

Passengers of the Leo Tolstoy train will also be able to take part in the photo contest. Take a picture with a book on the train and publish it in Instagram with the hashtag #finruslitonboard. The winners will receive free books.

Train № 31/32 Leo Tolstoy leaves Moscow from the Leningrad railway station at 23:10 (Moscow time) and arrive in Helsinki at 12:27 the following day (local time). From Helsinki train departs at 17:47 and arrivs in Moscow at 09:19 the next day. Travel time from Moscow to Helsinki is 14 hours 17 minutes, from Helsinki to Moscow - 14 hours 32 minutes.

The Leo Tolstoy train includes new cars of 1 and 2 class, the car class deluxe and the restaurant car. The wagons are equipped with air conditioning with temperature control in each compartment. Each compartment has folding table in combination with sink; sleeping berths are wider than in usual trains, that can easily be transformed into a seat with folding table between them, as well as sockets for charging mobile devices. Each car has 2 WC, one of which is equipped with a shower. The train provides Wi-Fi; e-books with the works of Leo Tolstoy will be a pleasant extra profit. Passengers can apply for a tax refund (tax-free) just on the train.
