The book "7 wonders and 42 sights of Russia" has been published. This issue is collections of high-quality photographs of the main sights in Russia with cultural, geographical and historical commentaries upon them. Major accents in the books are pointed to 7 sights considered to be "The seven wonders of Russia".

"Russian wonders" were elected in internet voting at www.ruschudo.ru after the competition "New 7 wonders of the World" when  no sight from Russia had passed to the final. In Russian contest the followin 7 sights have become 7 Russian wonders: Baikal lake (Buryatia republic), Geyser valley (Kamchatka), Mamaev hill and "The Motherland" statue (Volgograd region), Petergoff palace (Saint-Petersburgh),  Wind pillars (Komi republic), Elbrus (Caucasus), Saint Basils cathedral (Moscow).
