On the territory of Altai Region there are 2 airports: Barnaul (BAX) and Gorno-Altaysk (RGK).

Both airports have flights from Moscow.

Barnaul takes flights from St. Petersburg, Tomsk and Krasnoyarsk.

Gorno-Altaysk has flights from Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Tyumen and Ufa.

The railroad exists only till Barnaul and Biysk. From Moscow you can go to Barnaul (via Ekaterinburg and Omsk). Barnaul is connected also with Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk. From Barnaul to Biysk you can travel by shuttle trains. There is a passenger train from Novosibirsk to Biysk.

All further transportation around Altai region is possible only by high way roads (public buses, touristic transfers).

If you are traveling by car, follow the road P-256 (Chuysky tract) to Seminsky pass (583 km of the road, 1717 m above sea level), after the descent, turn right to the village Ust-Koksa (110 km from the pass), the end point of your the way will be the village Tyungur (+60 km).

Tyungur village is situated 900 km from Novosibirsk, 700 km from Barnaul, 450 km from Gorno-Altaisk.

By public bus you can drive from Barnaul only to Multa village (660 km, 14 hours on the road), it's 40 km from Tyungur village.

From Tyungur village starts the pedestrian route to the Belukha's foothills (60 km). Also, this way you can ride on horseback, you can rent horses, guides and grooms in the village Tyungur.

Please note, Ust-Koksa District of the Altai Republic is a border area (state border between Russia and Kazakhstan). Foreign tourists must apply to Russian Security Service for a special permit before entering the Region! Please provide your tourist company all necessary documents 3 months prior to the date of entry into the territory of the border area.
