State Commission on radiofrequency can permit to use cellular phone in planes already next week. The first airline providing passengers with such a service will be “Aeroflot”, writes newspaper “Vedomosti”. According to the given information, frequency rate of 1710-1785 MHz and 1805-1880 MHz, which were assigned for arrangement of micro telecommunications GSM in planes, are planned to be discussed by the State Commission on February 19.  In press service this information was confirmed.

Now mobile phones cannot be used in planes of Russian airlines. The prohibition was accounted by technical experts for the fact that while take-off and landing of a plane, phone calls can block intercommunication of a crew and ground services, and during the flight it can lead to error in work of navigation system.

Meanwhile, cellular lines and internet access are available for passengers in such airline companies as Delta, Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates Airlines and others.
