A famous Turkish journalist, the president of the Turkey’s Travel Club Orhan Kurral, who is often called ‘Turkish Senkevich’ in Russia, has paid a visit to Irkutsk city. His opinion is that the historical and cultural heritage of the capital of the Angara area must be saved. ‘Irkutsk must be kept out of Western influence. It is attractive with its historical monuments, original architecture and unique culture. It’s a very beautiful city’ – he noted.
IA ‘Teleinform’ reports that Orhan Kurral spent 4 days in Irkutsk, visited museums, churches, examined architectural monuments and took a trip to Baikal. He thinks that to promote tourism at Baikal it is necessary to organize direct airline connection between Irkutsk, Istanbul and other big cities of the world. ‘In the nearest future I’ll tackle this question – he promised – a friend of mine is the president of one of the world biggest air companies ‘Turkish Airlines’, I’ll have a talk to him on the matter. Air flight to Baikal must be accessible’. Orhan Kurral also highlighted that Baikal lacks water cruises. ‘I’d like to make it possible to voyage over all the most interesting sightseeing on a large liner standing all European standards’ – the journalist said.
