Baikal Lake enjoys a raise of popularity. Local tourist operators noticed a resurrection of tourist flow here, the number of tours sold this summer rose significantly having reached the level of the precrisis 2008, at places even overreached it. In fact, the tourist season is still on, tourists book tours for September, so it’s too early to sum up the results yet, which is the opinion of STI experts questioned.

Specialists also highlight that foreign tourists look for enjoyment of the Baikal’s nature and don’t stay here for long, continuing their trips further to Mongolia and China. Whereas Russians stay at Baikal for a week or two and, tour operators notice, they are more demanding to quality and diversity of the recreation provided.
