Buryatiya starts building a special economic zone "Baikal bay" which costs 7 billion rubles. The first parts of the zone will start working in 2011. The authorities hope to increase the tourist inflow by 4 times - up to 1 million people per year. The experts say that it is necessary to decrease air ticket prices to Baikal in order to develop the zone.

The special economic zone "Baikal bay" will be built on 5 areas: "Turka", "Peski", "Bychya mountain - peak 1771", "Bezymyannaya bay" and "Goryachinsk". The first two areas are the priorities, as they already have the projects. "Turka" will become the administrative complex of the zone, "Peski" - a recreational one. There will be a business centre, a 4 star hotel for 100 rooms, an aqua park and a fitness centre in "Turka". The developer of the project offered to build here a yacht club and berths for small speed boats and cruise liners.

In "Peski" area a health centre for 400 people, a living zone, a recreational club and a watching place will be built. Both areas will be able to take 1280 tourists simultaneously.

The federal centre will give 2.65 billion rubles in 2009 for building the infrastructure of the zone. Private investments make up 3.8 billion rubles.

The government of Buryatiya plans to increase tourist inflow up to 2 million people per year by 2015-2017.
