In 2012, the Russia's largest Buddha statue will be built on a mountain in Kyzyl. The 15-meter gilded sculptural composition will consist of the six-meter throne with a sitting Buddha, meditating in the lotus position. Construction work started last year by volunteers.
Installed at a height of two thousand meters above sea level, the monument will be visible from anywhere in the Tuvan capital. The project costs 13 million roubles, it is being carried out now – the throne for Buddha is made already.
Currently, the world's highest Buddha statue (and the highest statue) is the 128-meter monument "Spring Buddha", located in China's Henan Province.
