President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj plunged into the depths of Baikal lake in deep submergence vehicle MIR-1 during his stay in Buryatia within international conference of Mogolian nations.He was accompanied by scientists from Buryatia and Mongolia.

The submarine plunged on the depth of 400 meters. After it Elbegdorj said:" I felt like cosmonaut in deep waters of Baikal. I really apprectiate the scientific success of our Russian partners. I feel proud that one of Baikal's tributaries - Selenga river - begins in Mongolia. We will do our best to preserve ecological balance both of Selenga and Baikal".
