Possibility of an experience exchange was given by WWF project «Protected areas – for a living planet!». 2010 has been declared in the Republic of Tyva as the Year of Tourism. Unfortunately, tourism development in Tuva is inhibited by inaccessibility of territory, absence of an infrastructure and experience and weak advancement of Tuva as tourist product.

However, for example, the neighboring Altai Republic have managed to create conditions at which the remote region (with the republic there is no air and railway communication) has become a mecca of domestic tourism, real tourist brand in Russia.

Here, to Altai Republic Tuvinians have gone to get knowledge and experience. The program maximum has been put before the Tuva delegation. For some days they managed to visit some areas, to make acquaintance with different kinds of tourism, to see, how tourism in protected territories is organized. The Altai Republic has a wide experience of the organization of ecotourism – more than 23 % of region territory is occupied with protected territories, there are 5 natural parks. Understanding of how to organize active tourism in harmony with the nature is an actual problem for Tuva: in Tuva in 2009 the first natural park "Taiga" is created, and creation of natural park "Shuisky" is shortly planned.

Workshop participants visited natural park «Chui - oozy», in which territory there are the sacred places. Here you can see how ethno-tourism is organised nowadays (with the tasting of national dishes, carrying out ecological and ethnographic excursions, folklore programs).
