A resident of Irkutsk Vladimir Bragintsev is going to start his walking trip to Jerusalem from his native town on May, 8^th and reach this mecca on foot. According to his estimates he can return back to native city in 2014.

First, he plans to depart to Novosibirsk and then through Kazakhstan, Kalmykia and Rostov Region to Ukraine. After that he will have his way to Rumania, Bulgaria and Greece. And finally he will go by a steamboat to Israel through Cyprus.

Without speaking any foreign languages, the man is going to travel on his own without any guide or interpreter. Besides, he is planning to visit Kievo-Pechorskaya Lavra and to ascend the mountain Athos in Greece.

He wants to find Russian people in each country on his way to the place of destination, communicate with them and study the history of orthodoxy.

Walking trip to Jerusalem is not the first one for Vladimir Bragintsev. In summer 2008 he went from Vladivostok to Irkutsk. During his way he visited several Siberian villages with churches with the aim to get some more information on religious topics. Sometimes he had no lodging for the night, but he managed to overcome the difficulties, wearing out several pairs of footwear.
