Irkutsk is the third Russian city after Saint-Petersburg and Kazan where the Marriott Hotels have been built. As Mr. Wolfgang Köhler - the general manager of “Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Center” said, the closeness of Irkutsk to the Baikal Lake has determined the choice of the Network’s administration. Mr. Köhler has underlined, that they believe that Irkutsk can develop as a big touristic center.

The hotel was built according to the project of Irkutsk architect Oleg Badula. “Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Center” is mostly focused on business tourists. It is a hotel of a high quality and moderate price. It has 208 rooms and the most part of them are of the “de luxe” category. One of the main banches of activities of the hotel is to organize and hold all kinds of business events. The amount of money invested in this project is estimated to $25mln.

As the city’s vice mayor Dmitry Rasumov said yesterday, Irkutsk administration has provided technical support in order to place the hotel in service. The external look of the building of the district where the Marriott has been built is also changing. At investor’s cost the surrounding area of the hotel has also been improved, paving flag and benches has been fixed, trees has been planted. The fronts of three old wooden buildings near the hotel have also been reconstructed with the help of local businessmen.
