The international expedition "Following the Great silk way" will cross the Russian-Mongolian border in Tashant (Altai republic) on June 22. The expedition will be met by the delegation of the republican government with the vice Premier Yuriy Antaradonov.

The expedition started its way on May 13 from the capital of Mongolia Ulan-Bator. The Prime minister of Russia Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony. The aim of the expedition is to repeat the way of 7000 kilometers of the west Mongols who went from China to Volga in order to become a part of Russian people. The expedition includes 20 people: sociologists, ecologists, drivers, drovers, doctors from Russia and Mongolia.

The head of the expedition Fyodor Konyukhov was bitten by a tick and then hospitalized when crossing Mongolia. He was cured in Tuva and now has to join the group of travelers.

The route in Altai republic is the following: Tashanta - Kosh-Agach - Aktash - Inya - Tuekta - Yabogan - Korgon. Later the expedition will enter Altai region. There are press conferences and cultural events planned to be held on the territory of Altai region. On July 1 there will be a Day of Kalmykia in Altai with participation of the president of Kalmykia.
