Arrival
We recommend to come to Krasnoyarsk 2-3 days in advance, to relax, recharge energies after flights, adjust to the new time zone, explore the city.
A participant arrives to the agreed place of tour start independent. You will be responsible for your possible delay or failure to appear to the agreed place and time of the beginning of the expedition. In case of absence the tour price is not refundable and the tour date is not changable.
Tour pecularities
The tour is very intense. It is 100% possible to suffer storm on the lakes and reservoir. It means that we will have to wait and travel at night. Although the waterfalls are close to the rivers and lakes, active trekking will be necessary. As the tour crosses areas with unstable weather conditions unexpected program changes are possible due to the flight cancellations.
The program can be changed due to:
* Tourists' request during the tour
* A guide decision because of storm or force majeure
The tour operator is not liable for misfits between the program and tourist's expectations.
Restrictions
We don't recommend to participate in the expedition people with chronic diseases requiring medical supervision. In the case of hiding such a disease, as well as in the case of exacerbation of the disease and caused emergency evacuation, the participant alone is responsible for one's health and for the possible failure of the expedition to the other members of the group. When removing a participant from the route on medical reasons the money, paid for the tour, is not be refundable.
What is more, it is not recommended to participate in the tour for people with insect bites allergies.
Transportation
The boat is equipped with the third pump-jet. The boat provided stationary beds for every tourist and crew, equipped galley and a bio-toilet. This vessel is fully prepared for long river crossings in comfortable conditions to the center of Plateau plateau. The boat is fully compliant with the safety requirements.
Accommodation
Sleeping places for tourists are provided right on the board. The boat is equipped with sleeping shelves.
The lower shelf, if necessary, can be transformed into a table.
The sleeping shelves have comfortable and soft covered mattresses and foam pillows with a thickness of 10 cm.
Each bed is separated from the main cabin by a thick curtain.
Tourists wishing to spend the night in a separate tent are provided with 2-person camping tents for self-installation.
In tents you can also use foam mattresses and pillows.
Attention! Sleeping bags are not provided! Tourists need to take them with you!
At the cordon of the reserve there is a banya for guests. Bathing is free and without restrictions.
Tourists prepare a bath independently under the control of instructors.
Meals
The meals are cooked by the cook.
You will be fishing (lakes and rivers are full of very beautiful fish with tropical color - Char, the taste is like a salmon) and cook delicious fish dishes. We will cook on the fire, take the water from crystal clean waterfalls, make teas from personally collected herbs. During mushroom season we will gather and fry the mushrooms, during berry season - cook stewed fruit on the fire.
The boat provides a gas stove to cook the food or warm tea, and a full set of utensils for cooking and eating.
In the village Svetlogorsk before the tour start the group can independently purchase in stores premium food, as well as a variety of delicacies from the local people (venison, fish, eggs).
A warning! During the tour it is not recommended to drink alcoholic beverages, including wine and beer. Intoxicated and drunk people are not allowed to board the boat. REMEMBER! Almost all emergency situations are caused by alcohol intoxication. Unfortunately, we have already experienced this during the tours, and that's why we need to ban all kinds of alcohol beverages on the route completely.
Service
For more rapid movement the assistance in cooking, in fire wood making, making up the fire, cleaning and cooking the caught fish is welcome.
The group carries baggage and equipment to the boat, loads and unloads the boat under control of a captain guide.
The captain guide performs general supervision: helps preparing woods for fire and sauna, controls the power generator and air beds level, assists pitching a tent for group meetings and sauna, hands out food, accompanies the group to the waterfalls, drives the boat and attends it. Guides give advice and provide tour assistance if necessary.
Also please pay attention and take into account that the guides accompanying the group are ordinary people, working time, physical and mental strength of them are not unlimited. Guides are on routes throughout the season, from June to September, seven days a week. All this time they are trying to make the rest of each group comfortable, safe, interesting and unforgettable. Therefore, we ask to understand and respect our guides and their work.
Daily regimen
The difference in the time zone (UTC + 7) and a large gap between civilization and expedition will usually lead to the fact that the order of the day of tourists and guides is significantly different. Added to this is also the effect of the polar day, when nights as bright as days. All this, unfortunately, creates a misleading impression of the endless of the day and allegedly irrational use of time.
From our experience, we have found the most optimal time for a group breakfast - 10 am local time, and starting of daily trips - at 11-12 am. Our trips take about 8 hrs.
But travelers still have a lot of free time. In this regard, we recommend visitors to actively participate in the necessary daily activities, such as cooking, washing dishes, making fire, stocking firewood.
Also we advise in advance, even at home, think about the possible options for free time, so rare condition in big cities. For example, it can be: photography, fishing, reading, the psychological work on oneself (meditation, yoga), writing diaries, drawing, wood carving, playing a musical instrument, etc. However, take all necessary accessories with you. And you can also invent some entertaining games or prepare texts of forgotten rhymes, songs and jokes. And then the journey will seem even more "filled" and "delicious".
Remember, it turns out a journey will be interesting, first of all, thanks to ourselves! Tour organizers help you with this just a little.
Fishing
Our tour is positioned as the "Water journey to the center of the Putorana plateau", and is not fishing one. Fishing is possible, but not the main aim of the tour. Special time for fishing is not devoted, fishing in other direction from the route is not organized.
But fishing is possible around the clock due to the polar day. Better to have 2 spinning sets. Lures yellow and white for the big fish. Grayling, whitefish is caught with small spinners, large flies black, yellow, green lurex, etc. It is recommended to have wobblers, mouse.
You must have tools for taking out the hook from the fish.
Fish species; brook trout, whitefish, trout, pike, perch, burbot, whitefish, grayling.
Attention! Taimen is caught only as "catch and release" (you should return fish into the water). The death of trout is fined 10,000 rubles regardless of the size.
Due to the midnight sun phenomenon fishing is available 24 hours a day. It is better to have two spinnings. We recommend yellow jigs, white for bigger fish. Such fishes as grayling or vendace are better caught with small jigs, big flies, black, yellow, green with lurex, etc. It is recommended to have plugs, mice as well as gadgets to get hooks out of the fish.
Types of fish: char, broad whitefish, taimen, pike, perch, burbot, grayling, vendace
Attention! Cathing taimen is prohibited. The death of a taimen caused by a fisher is sanctioned with 10000 roubles not depending on the fish size.
Trekking
Waterfalls are located at a distance of 500 m. to 2 km. from the shore, but despite the seemingly small distance, their visit requires good physical preparation, as you will have to go through pristine taiga and moss-covered boulder stones. There are no trails here, only rare animal tracks, trodden by deer or elk. We tend to move upwards along the stream flowing from the waterfall. Members of the group must follow discipline, move strictly behind the instructor, not run aside, as mountains and canyon walls are badly damaged by erosion, and any wrong moving can cause a rockfall. It's recommended to have good trekking boots. A breakdown of the group on the trained and untrained participants is not allowed. Climbing the plateau itself is prohibited, as it requires a special equipment and special training of group and guides.
We inform you in advance that during the tour you will visit not all, but only a few waterfalls, selected depending on the physical preparation of the group and weather conditions.
Moving to the waterfalls in the wet and rainy weather, as well as in extreme heat days is prohibited. However, we will do our best, and if weather conditions do not allow to visit a waterfall during the day, you can visit it later, in the evening, if the weather conditions are more favorable (for example, in the case of strong heat during the day).
According to our rules, during one day you are allowed to visit not more than two waterfalls, one of which is located at a distance of more than 1 km away from the water's edge, and the second - less than 1 km away, or both are less than 1 km. Accompanying guides always check the state of the group and do not allow dominance of physically well trained tourists over less prepared ones (this is the specificity of combined groups).
Weather
The plateau is the highland, where, as you know, nights are cold. Air temperature at night can drop to the temperature of the water, ie, + 5 to + 10 C. In addition, it is also a region of the Far North with its permafrost. In cloudy weather, as well as in September it can be cool during the day. Therefore, warm clothes such as fleece or polartec and warm socks are never superfluous in this journey.
Summer in plateau is different - hot or cold. For example, in June-July 2013 and in 2016 the air temperature in the shade reached +38, almost no rain, but in the summer 2014 it was cold and rainy, the sun shined just during two weeks within 3 months.
During the tour we can find scalding sun, cold wind, steady rain, snow.
From the 15th August the polar day ends. Movement by boat at night is prohibited. In this connection, passing by Kureika reservoir the overnight can not necessarily be in the expected location on the river Miandra, at the spot, where the dark finds us.
Insects
A characteristic feature of the northern area is the presence of the mosquitos from July to September, and in hot weather also botflies. At the same time there are no encephalitis ticks on the Plateau. Travelers are advised to have a mosquito net on the heads (very important), the clothes of the mesh or membrane fabric and long-sleeved T-shirts. It's advisable to have 2-3 mosquito repellent sprays. It is not recommended to participate in the tour for people with insect bites allergies. The gnat is present in the taiga zone, during trekking to waterfalls. The lake Dyupkun has virtually no insects, because winds blow there and the insects can't live above the cool water.

Northern Lights
Catching the northern lights is quite difficult - too many circumstances must emerge successfully. However, if you follow the tips, you can greatly improve your chances.
Aurora season is the period from the March to September equinox. But this does not mean that the sky is illuminated only during these months, shine may well happen in August. Professionals say that the best time of day for observation - from about 10 pm to 3 am.
The main condition for the aurora is the emission of particles to the sun. After ejection the aurora appears from 2 to 5 days. Of course, the more powerful is emission, the greater is the chance. Many observatories around the world monitor the space weather, here are some of them:
- Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation, Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia
- Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska, USA
- Meteorological Institute, Finland
- Lancaster University, UK
- Space weather prediction center, USA
The site of each of these organizations is tracked index of magnetic activity (K-index). Its value ranges from 1 to 9, where 1 - all is quiet, 9 - electronics fails. Northern lights appear when the K-index reaches a value of 4-5 or higher.
Northern Lights appear at the height of 100 km.
Polar day
Polar Day is a period when the sun never sets for more than 1 day. Polar Day is the result of the tilt of the Earth's equatorial plane to the plane of the ecliptic, which is approximately 23 ° 26 '.
The shortest polar day is almost 2 days and observed at the latitude of the Arctic Circle - 66 ° 33 'minus the radius of the solar disk (15-16') and atmospheric refraction (at sea level on average 35 '), total of about 65 ° 43'. Thus, in fact, the polar day can be seen in areas that lie just to the south of the Arctic Circle, at the time there will be no polar nights.
On our route polar day ends around August, 15-20.
Force Majeure
Force majeure can be:
war, strikes, natural disasters, extreme actions of the Government of Russia Federation, local authorities, reserve's administration, weather conditions and other circumstances, restricting the movement of the expedition.
The expedition stops moving and organizes the evacuation of the group in the following circumstances:
-
participant's injury, requiring professional health care
-
injury or death as the result of attack of wild animals
-
abnormal drought in the area of travel, drying up rivers and threatens the breakdown of boat engines. Forest fires.
-
abnormal rainfall in the area of travel, and as the result flooding on the river, dangerous for traveling
-
unexpected failure of engines on the boat and impossibility to replace parts in the field conditions
Enjoy the trip!
