E-visa to St Petersburg

13.09.2019

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of 53 states whose citizens will be able to visit St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region with an e-visa from October, 1. The list is identical to Kaliningrad.

It includes Austria, Andorra, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Vatican, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Denmark, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Qatar, Cyprus, China (including Taiwan), North Korea, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Philippines, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia and Japan.

The list does NOT include the USA, Great Britain and Canada.

Unlike Kaliningrad, foreign tourists will not be able to come to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region by e-visa by train, because the city is not technically ready for this yet. All other methods - car, plane, cruise liner - will be available.

Now, with electronic visas, foreign tourists can visit the Far East and the Kaliningrad region. Applicants must fill out an electronic form on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at least four calendar days before the planned trip. Such a visa is valid for 30 days and allows to stay in Russia no more than eight days from the moment of entry.

From January 1, 2021 foreign tourists will be able to receive e-visas for trips to all regions of Russia.
