A new project “The way of pilgrim. Meeting Khambo Lama Itigelov” started in Buryat Republic. The project provides visiting of places connected with the birth and vital activity of Itigelov. In the stopping places it is planned to reconstruct the models of traditional Buryat housekeeping. By the end of the trip pilgrims will be able to visit Ivolginsky Temple and watch with their own eyes an imperishable lama.

Khambo Lama Itigelov (1852-1927) is a Buryat religious figure and one of the outstanding Buddhist devotees of XX century. Lama Itigelov died during meditation in lotus position. According to his last will the sarcophagus with his body was opened in 2002. It was found out that there were no any signs of decomposition. Moreover, an expert in forensic medicine Victor Zvyagin stated that the body of lama hasn’t got any signs of alterations.

So his body became an object of mass warship for believers.
