The mummy of young woman found by archeologists in 1993 in Plateu Ukok will be brought back from Novosibirsk to the capital of Altai Republic. It was stated to Regnum News by academician of Siberian department of Russian Academy of Sciences Anatoly Derevyanko. Negotiations with Novosibirsk scientists were held by order of the head of the republic Alexander Berdnikov.

Both sides came to the agreement about returning the mummy to the National Museum of Altai Republic as soon as a reconstruction of the museum will be finished. Specially for “Altai Princess” a sarcophagus is designed. Money for this project was given by OAO Gazprom.

This unique object of a great archeological value was found out in Plateu Ukok 16 years ago. Archeologists brought to light the fact that the princess was in frozen ground for about 2, 5 thousand of years. Today the mummy is being kept in Novosibirsk.
